In view of the global corona pandemic, it is now more important than ever to act in solidarity and to support those who have been particularly hard hit by this catastrophe. In addition to old, poor, homeless and immunocompromised people, these include refugees at the EU's external borders.
Several thousand people are stuck in refugee camps on the EU's external borders. The conditions are catastrophic, there is a lack of everything: from medical help to basic and hygiene care. Trapped and isolated on the islands, people are vulnerable to the pandemic.
For this reason, various non-profit associations and initiatives launched the Leave No One Behind campaign at the beginning of the corona pandemic at the beginning of 2020. Their goal: stand up for the rights of the refugees in camps like Moria on the Greek island of Lesbos, become politically active, raise awareness and improve the situation on the ground with aid packages.
The latest campaign from Leave No One Behind: Under the motto "10,000 shoes", 10,000 pairs of shoes are to be collected for people fleeing with a big appeal. Because of the dramatic conditions on site, thousands of people in Greek camps and on the Bosnian border do not have the right shoes. A circumstance that is not only degrading, but can also be dangerous because people are mercilessly at the mercy of the weather and other external conditions. For this reason, we want to support the campaign and help to at least partially cover the need for sturdy shoes at the EU's external borders.
- Note: This promotion ended on March 17, 2021. -
Leave No One Behind is soliciting both shoe and monetary donations to fund the purchase of new shoes and transportation. Therefore, we have already sent a package with shoes from our own environment and made a donation of 1,500 euros from the United in Humanity donation pot. Now you are asked.
