What is a time trial?

In time trials, cyclists ride a set distance as fast as they can. Unlike a race like the Tour de France, where all riders start at the same time, in time trials you only race against the clock alone. Tactical moves do not play a role here and each athlete's own performance is considered individually.

There are different time trial races, all of which differ in length and also in their requirements. Probably the most famous time trial is the individual time trial of the Tour de France.

There is no doubt that time trials are extremely demanding disciplines, which require not only the necessary physical fitness, but also the right technique and the right equipment. The driver must manage his strength well while driving and focus fully on his own performance.
