Questions & Answers

When and where does Off Grid take place?

The events take place from May 26–31, 2026 (Cologne) and September 8–13, 2026 (Munich). The adventure kicks off on the morning of the first day. No later than four days later, we’ll welcome you at the secret destination with a small arrival party and catering. The following day, you—and your bikes and gear—will be comfortably transported back to Cologne or Munich.

Is Off Grid a race?

No, Off Grid is not a race. It’s an unsupported bikepacking adventure where speed and competition don’t matter. Instead, it’s all about creating unique moments and unforgettable memories. We want to actively encourage you to fully immerse yourself in the analog experience and enjoy every minute on the bike.

What does it cost to participate?

Participation costs €250 per person. In return, you’ll get a true worry-free package, including:

  • High-quality gear from Ryzon, Ortlieb, and POC
  • A welcome party with catering and an overnight stay at the Off Grid Camp at the destination
  • A farewell breakfast
  • Return transportation to Cologne/Munich
  • Access to all photos and videos
  • A small surprise package at the start
How can we buy a ticket?

Before you can secure a ticket, you’ll need to apply as a team by filling out our application form. This is where you tell us a bit about yourselves: Who are you? Why do you want to take part in Off Grid? And what’s your bikepacking experience like? The application phase ends on February 18.

On March 6, we’ll announce which teams have been selected. If you’re chosen, you’ll receive an email and can then purchase your tickets for Off Grid 2026 directly through our shop. Only once this step is completed is your participation confirmed.

Of course, we’ll also inform everyone who unfortunately won’t be able to join us this time.

Are we really completely on our own during the tour?

Yes—and that’s exactly what makes Off Grid so special. You’ll be fully self-reliant, with no digital navigation, no support crew, and no predefined route. Your phones will be sealed before the start so you can fully focus on the adventure and analog planning. They should only be used in case of an emergency.

Food and overnight stays during the ride are also up to you. Whether you sleep under the stars in a tent, stop at a small guesthouse, or come up with something spontaneous along the way—it’s entirely your call.

That said, we’re still keeping an eye on you. Thanks to the GPS tracker each team carries during the ride, we can always see where you are. This also gives our film and photo crew the chance to surprise you along the way and capture some of your moments.

Do we need prior bikepacking experience?

No, prior experience isn’t strictly required—but it will definitely help. If you’ve set up a tent before, fixed a flat tire, and ridden longer distances with loaded bikes, you’ll likely find your footing more quickly.

What you absolutely need to bring is curiosity, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to embrace four days full of the unexpected. One thing is certain: not everything will go smoothly. And it’s up to you to handle every challenge on your own.

What kind of bike do you recommend?

We generally recommend taking part with a gravel bike, as it offers the best balance of speed and flexibility when it comes to route choices.

That said, since there’s no predefined route, you’re also welcome to join on a road bike or a mountain bike.

Are we allowed to use our phones?

No. Your phones will be properly sealed before the start and must remain that way—except in a true emergency. This is a core part of the Off Grid experience, because only without digital distractions can you fully immerse yourself in the tour. No messages, no navigation, no scrolling—just you, your bike, and your surroundings.

Can I participate on my own?

No, participation is only possible as a two-person team. We believe that great adventures become even more memorable when they’re shared.
