Our vision of the highest quality and sustainable functionality goes beyond the design and materials of our sportswear – it continues in the proper care of the products. To maintain the optimal performance and longevity of your RYZON clothing, careful washing is crucial. We show you how to care for your clothing properly so that you can enjoy it for a long time.
As little as possible and as much as necessary
Often, sportswear is washed after every use – without first checking whether this is really necessary. Every wash that is avoided not only saves water, but also protects the fibers and extends the life of your clothing . Light soiling can often be easily removed with a damp sponge or cloth.
Base layers in particular do not need to be washed after every wear. The fibers used are odorless and airing them out is often enough to make the garment feel fresh again.
Particularly important: Clothes with water-repellent DWR impregnation should only be washed as rarely as possible in order to maintain their full functionality. You can reactivate the impregnation performance after washing by putting the products in the dryer for 30 to 50 minutes at the lowest temperature.
Washing machine? Yes, but properly!
You should always follow the care instructions on the product. In most cases, it is sufficient to wash the laundry at 30 degrees. This not only protects the environment, but also the sensitive fibers. Heat can permanently damage the material – so the colder the better. The length of the wash program also plays a role: shorter programs and a low spin speed cause less fiber breakage and are still effective. For merino wool or merino blends, we recommend the gentle or wool wash cycle . Avoid fabric softener and use gentle detergents to optimally preserve the natural fibers. We generally recommend liquid detergent, which you dose depending on the hardness of the water and the level of dirt on the clothing.
Air drying for a longer life
All of our sports products are quick-drying. This makes the use of a dryer unnecessary. What's more, high heat damages the fibers and can loosen glued seams. Air drying is not only gentle on the material, it also saves energy – a plus for the environment. You should avoid drying in direct sunlight, as UV light can change the color of your product.
Protection for the fibers... and our oceans
To minimize fiber breakage, we recommend the following:
- When washing products with zippers, buttons, or similar elements, always turn them inside out and close all fasteners.
- Wash your clothes in laundry bags. This will prevent items of clothing from damaging each other in the washing machine. With synthetic products, this will also prevent microplastics caused by fiber breakage from entering the wastewater. A small step with a big impact – for the longevity of your clothes and the protection of the environment.
